A Nightmare game!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 04, 2020 at 12:56:37 AM

"Although there were six of us, the Fauns were coming out from all sides and seemed in the throes of a nightmare fury! We fought to the best of our abilities but we were tired and injured, while they did not give a step.
I remember with fear that night in the woods, we were saved by a miracle and only thanks to the retreat shouted by Valerio. Sometimes losses are more useful than wins; this has taught us not to underestimate the enemy and not to believe us invincible."
                                                                                                                                             Agorix the Druid

Hello Heroes!
As promised in this update we will take a look at the Nightmare cards, which are the first of a series of Stretch Goals that will allow you to play NA: R with up to 6 players!
The functioning of the Nightmare cards is very similar to that of the Divine help cards we saw yesterday.
In games with 5 or 6 players (or even fewer if you are feeling particularly brave and want to increase the degree of the challenge), all you have to do is apply one of these cards, drawn randomly, to each Enemy card in play, and you will see the power of all Enemies in the field increase significantly.

The characteristics and attacks of the Enemies will become more dangerous; some Enemies may also acquire new abilities, creating truly lethal and surprising combinations, forcing you to adapt your tactics to face and defeat them.
The positive side is that the loot of the Enemies will also increase, also as a consequence that having a larger party, more Reagents will be needed to satisfy the desire for crafting by each player.

With the next stretch goals, we will unlock all the components you will need to get to 6 players, so new Hero folders, Perilium, Skill pins, etc.

And that's all for this update! We are approaching the final phase of the KS, the last week will be full of surprises, do not forget to continue supporting Social SG to prepare for a final rush filled with All-ins, SGs, and.... the Undead!

See you tomorrow with another great update!

what is this? 😱😱😱

Ask for a divine help
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 03, 2020 at 01:01:54 AM

"Sometimes we find ourselves in a battle of a few against the many, and it is on these occasions that we have brought out the best in ourselves. By putting all our skills to the test, we push ourselves beyond our limits, and in the end, we have prevailed over adversity!
Vincenzo says that many times we have received help from Heaven and that our victories are not only in thanks to us... but I think that our Mission was so important that even in adversity we have decided never to give up! And then you know...“Audentes Fortuna iuvat!"

Hello Heroes!
Today we will take a close look at the Divine Help cards which as anticipated in the Message Board will be used for games with less than 3 Heroes.
With these cards you can play alone or with a friend controlling 1 Hero each!
Many of you have asked us for this mode and we decided to integrate it in a very simple and fast way.
In games with 1 or 2 Heroes, simply draw a Divine Help card for each Enemy card in play and apply its modifiers to all the Enemies represented by that card, as shown in the image below (the Divine card it's a WIP).

Divine Help cards (WIP)

The modifiers will be able to change the characteristics, the attacks, and the Loot values of the Enemies, although in this case, it will depend on the type of Reagent shown on the Divine Help card, so if the card shows a symbol of a Reagent that the Enemy does not have, this part of the modifier will not be applied.

The Divine Help cards will weaken the Enemies to make them more approachable by 1 or 2 Heroes and should only be played in the Missions played with this number of Heroes.

In games with 3 or 4 Heroes, the Enemies will not undergo changes and can be played with their standard cards in the normal way.
The introduction of the Divine Help cards, together with the use of the Allies, will provide you with all the tools you need to play NA:R even with 1 or 2 Heroes in a very versatile and satisfying way, adapting the game to your needs with a great variety of choices.

What do you think? Are you ready for a new challenge? Are you ready to go it alone throughout Renaissance Italy?

Read the Stars with Jafar - Acquarius
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 03, 2020 at 12:54:46 AM

"Aquarius loves the unknown, looking at the stars outside the city, getting lost in the night sky."

Hello Heroes!
Here we are on a new appointment with Jafar and his study of the zodiac signs of NA: R. Today we will show you the powers of the Aquarius!
Heroes with the sign of Aquarius will acquire a power to be activated that will require the expenditure of 1AP.
In its activation, an Aquarius Hero can therefore spend 1AP to roll a die and if you get a Moon or Sun symbol you can heal one suffered wound.

Since there are 3 Suns and 1 Moon on the NA: R dice, a Hero will have a 50% chance to heal one wound, and since there are no restrictions on the use of this ability you will be able to attempt this roll several times. During its activation, but given the expenditure in AP, you will always have to use it wisely, remember that in the NA: R Missions the time factor is determined to achieve victory!

This ability can be useful to many Heroes: warriors like Valerio, who are always at the center of the fray and generally suffer a lot of damage, will be able to stay on the field longer to continue fighting and attract the attention of the Enemies to defend the other Heroes. This is especially true for classes like the Knight or Valkyrie

But even the puniest Heroes like Rebecca and Agorix will be able to make good use of this ability, healing themselves without having to wait for healing from other Heroes and continuing to wreak havoc on your Enemies! Obviously, it will be up to you to find the best combination to make the most of this Zodiac Sign!

That's it for this short update! See you soon with a new update where we will show you in detail the Divine Help cards to play with fewer Heroes and the Nightmare cards that anticipate the introduction of 5 or 6 player games, with a series of SGs that will give you everything you need to play with a larger group of Heroes!

Stay tuned!

As usual a little (and very near) spoiler!

Pathfinders, we are very near to unlock them!

Designer Diary #3 - Allies -
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 03, 2020 at 12:28:08 AM

Hello Heroes!
In this new designer diary we're going to introduce you to a new type of model that can be used in your NA: R games, the Allies!
In the original edition of NA the Allies were called Paersona, and were in effect special Heroes usable by players, but unlike standard Heroes they could not accumulate experience or change their equipment.
The original system, however, provided that if a player wanted to play a Mission with a Paersona he would have to temporarily abandon his favorite Hero, which was not at all preferable, since the unused Hero would not be able to acquire new Skills.

In NA: R, Allies are effectively additional Heroes that players can use in addition to the 4 standard Heroes. To be used with ease, they have a special card that allows you to manage the Ally more quickly and comfortably, without taking up too much space on the game table.
We can define them as "mini-Heroes".

This system also allows those who play with fewer than 4 players to use the "Allies" version of the Heroes as a substitute for the missing players (yes, we're looking at you, solo players).
So for example, if you want to tackle a solo campaign you can choose your favorite Hero and manage up to 3 other Heroes as Allies (buying them in the City Phase through a cash expense procedure).
We have mentioned up to 3 other Heroes because soon with the new Divine Help cards it will be possible to play even with less than 4 players, as well as with the Nightmare cards it will be possible to play with up to 6 players.
Allies will be considered as real Heroes for the management of these new cards.

The Allies cards are in tarot format and include all the features (at the top of the card), plus 3 Fixed Skills that require a cash cost to use. In example (A), Sofia can be "purchased" at the end of the City Phase at an increasingly higher price based on the Skills you want her to have during the Mission. The cost of the Skills is cumulative so if for example you want Sofia to be able to use 2 Skills you will have to pay a total of 5 popolini before the Mission begins.
The Allies have their own equipment (B) which will normally provide them with one or at most two different attacks.
Finally, in the lower part of the card (C) you will have one or more keywords that can be used during the narrative sessions of the Missions (in a future update we will explain this aspect of the game in detail).

The Allies will not only be Heroes in a simplified version, but also historical or special characters that can only be used as Allies, an example is Giovanni dalle Bande Nere that you will find in Under Siege, but we have many others in store for you! They are just waiting impatiently to be released.

See you tomorrow for the next update!

who will be?

Welcome in Italy, land of sun, sea and legends... and good food of course!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 03, 2020 at 12:07:06 AM

Traveling through the rough roads of Roman Empire origin that run through the entire peninsula, it is common to come across fallen columns or walls covered with dense, green ivy hiding precious mosaics that once saw the sun.

These roads all depart from Rome and lead to all the major cities and towns of the time.

During the Renaissance there is also a very thorough study of creating the ideal city, with many scholars subsidized by patrons trying to make a better and more modern city, filled with functional and artistic buildings.

In NA: R, these locations are characterized by your City cards.

The City cards will serve to further characterize your trips throughout Italy, differentiating the main places you will visit during the campaign.

Each card has an image of the city, its name and a brief historical description on the front.

On the opposite side you will find all the game information you will need.

Each city in the game will only include the places that you can visit and any special rules that apply to them.

The places within these Renaissance cities that can be visited are:

  • Barracks where it will be possible to hire Allies and accept secondary bounty Missions on the most wanted men
  • Cerusico, where the Heroes will be able to go to be treated for their serious wounds.
  • Craftsman, through which the Heroes can commission new equipment to be built.
  • Inn, where the Heroes will be able to learn about hunting Missions, leading to interesting mini-games.
  • Church, to receive a blessing before the next Mission.
  • Market, where it is possible to sell and buy equipment, formulas and reagents.
  • Brothel, where the heroes can discover information about the city and about many other side Missions.
  • Catacombs, ... well we can't reveal any information about this place yet, but there will be a dedicated update soon.

We can't wait to reveal to you the many wonders that cities hide, in fact each city will also be linked to a few paragraphs contained inside the plot book that will help you discover more and more information about the world of NA: R and maybe will allow you to experience unique adventures or to find very special equipment.

We hope you can't wait to visit the many places in Renaissance Italy. See you tomorrow with another great update!
